Mid Amateur League

COMPOSITION OF TEAMS: Each team shall consist of eight players, four to play at ‘Home’ and four to play ‘Away’. Players must be registered affiliated members of the competing Club and must be handicapped at that Club.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY: Only players aged 35 and older may participate in this league. A player who has represented his Club in any other league during the season cannot play for any other Club in any league during the same season. Any player suspended from a Club or suspended from the Leagues in terms of the Constitution of the WPGU or League Rules of the WPGU is not eligible to represent any Club during his period of suspension.

FORMAT OF COMPETITION: The format of the League shall be Singles Match-play off scratch, played on the date specified in the WPGU fixture list. The team winning the most games on the day will be declared the winner of the match. Games that are tied at the end of eighteen holes shall not proceed beyond the eighteenth green, but shall be considered halved games. In winning a match a team will be awarded two points. If a match be halved each team will be awarded one point. Points scoring for individual games shall be one point for a win, half a point for a tie and no points for a loss. Should a course at a venue become unplayable during a League or play-off match then completed games will count with the uncompleted games being declared draws. Should a venue be unplayable before the match commences the result at that venue will be a two-all draw. Matches in the semi-final and final will also be played on a home-and-away basis. In the event of a tie in the semi-final or final, the team with the highest cumulative ‘holes up’ at the conclusion of each individual game during the semi-final or final will be declared the winner. If the ‘holes up’ are tied as well, the winner of the semi-final shall be the team that won their section and in the final the trophy shall be shared.

Premier League

COMPOSITION OF TEAMS: Each team shall consist of eight players. Players must be registered affiliated members of the competing Club and handicapped at that Club.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY: A player who has represented his Club in any other league during the season cannot play for any other Club in any league during the same season. A player may not represent a Club in two different; non-age based, Leagues on the same week-end, unless he has been nominated reserve for the Premier League team and represents his Club in the Premier League on that weekend due to the withdrawal of a player in accordance with the rules of this League. Should a player represent his Club more than once in the Premier league, he may not represent his Club in any other scratch, non-age based match-play leagues, during the same year. Any player suspended from a Club or suspended from the Leagues in terms of the Constitution of the WPGU or League Rules of the WPGU is not eligible to represent any Club during the period of his suspension.

FORMAT OF COMPETITION: The format of the League shall be eighteen holes Foursomes Match-play in the morning and eighteen holes Singles Match-play in the afternoon, played on the date specified in the WPGU fixture list. The team winning the most games on the day will be declared the winner of the match. Games that are tied at the end of eighteen holes shall not proceed beyond the eighteenth green, but shall be considered halved games. In winning a match a team will be awarded two points. If a match be halved each team will be awarded one point. Points scoring for individual games shall be one point for a win, half a point for a tie and no points for a loss. Should a course at a venue become unplayable during a League match then completed games will count with the uncompleted games being declared draws where they did not complete 9 holes. The status of the individual games which completed at least 9 holes will count as the final result for that game as at the last completed hole before the signal for suspension and eventual discontinuance of play are given. The decision for suspension of play will be the committee’s and will be communicated clearly to all competitors. Should a venue be unplayable before the match commences the result at that venue will be a six-all draw.

Second League

COMPOSITION OF TEAMS: Each team shall consist of eight players, four to play at ‘Home’ and four to play
‘Away’. Players must be registered affiliated members of the competing Club and must be handicapped at that Club.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY: A player who has represented his Club in any other league during the season cannot play for any other Club in any league during the same season. A player may not move between the various leagues other than natural promotion and relegation. A player may not represent a Club in two different Leagues on the same week-end, unless he has been nominated reserve for the Premier League team and represents his Club in the Premier League on that weekend due to the withdrawal of a player in accordance with the rules of the Premier League. Any player suspended from a Club or suspended from the Leagues in terms of the Constitution of the WPGU or League Rules of the WPGU is not eligible to represent any Club during his period of suspension. A player who has played two Premier League matches is ineligible to play in this league again.

Harry Solomon League

COMPOSITION OF TEAMS: Each team shall consist of sixteen players. Players must be registered and affiliated full members of the competing Club and must be handicapped at that Club.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY: The handicap range for all players competing in the league is 10 to 18, inclusive. No player is allowed to represent a club if his handicap has been below 10 at any stage from the 1st August 2010 until the end of season. Selectors should exercise caution when a month-end, with possible handicap reductions, intervenes between selection and the match itself. Any violation of this rule, including artificial full-handicap changes, will result in automatic forfeiture of each match where the violation occurred.

FORMAT OF COMPETITION: The format of the competition shall be Four-ball Betterball Matchplay played off an SAGA computed handicap, with the lowest handicap in a four-ball playing off scratch and the remainder of the four-ball playing off a handicap equal to the difference between the lowest handicap in the four-ball and their handicaps. The competition shall be played over eighteen holes on a home and away basis with four games (eight players) being played at home and four games (eight players) away. The first Club in the draw shall be the ‘Home’ Club and the first four couples of each team shall play each other at the ‘Home’ Club. The second four couples shall play each other at the ‘Away’ Club. The order of play at each venue will be from weakest pair to strongest pair with the weakest pairs teeing off first.

All matches are to start from the first tee, and are to be played to the 18th hole, with a normal matchplay result and a subsequently adjusted result as at the 18th hole. Should there be any ties 2 within a section att he end of the season, the cumulative 18th hole results will be used as the countout mechanism.
